Are you a high handicap player?
Did you set yourself a goal of reducing your handicap this season?
Are you finding it difficult?
If so, then this post is for definitely for you.
It could well be you are trying to improve your golf by looking at your whole game!
Maybe you are working on swing changes!
You could be you are trying to do too much!
If you follow the guidance below, then there is every chance you can save 6 shots a round.
High handicap players have a destructive shot in their repertoire and whenever and when ever they hit it, it proves to be very costly. Excluding the short holes, an average course has 15 holes made up of par 4s and par 5s.
These holes are the ones where a driver or 3 wood are usually used from the tee. Lets suppose in around where you play to your handicap, 5 tee shots hit the fairway, 5 tees shots hit the semi rough and 5 find the real trouble.
This is when the scores mounts up with penalty shots, over optimistic recovery shots and lost balls.
As simple as it may sound, if the player could just find 3 more fairways in the round, then 6 shots minimum could be the saving.
Every player has certain holes when the stomach tightens with anxiety and these are the holes that where the disasters occur. Instead of blasting away with the driver, do something radical instead and hit a No 5 hybrid or 5 iron off the tee. If you hit the same club again for your second you will be amazed how easy a par 4 hole becomes when all you need for your 3rd shot is a wedge or 9 iron. On in three shots and 2 putts gives you a 5 instead of a 7 or 8 even.
This simple shift in tactics with course management planning will give you the results you are looking for.
